Slow filter Maintenance Work
Scraping away
When a slow filter is clogged and filtration efficiency is down, filter sand in the surface layer (biofilm) is scraped away by 1-2cm to restore the filtration capacity. A very thin filter layer affects filtration, so we conduct resanding to rehabilitate the filter. The minimum thickness of the remaining filter layer is around 40cm.
Turning over the surface layer and the lower layer
It is basically time for resanding when the thickness of the sand layer is reduced by 20-30cm from the preset value. This is the process of putting old sand in the filter to the upper layer and new sand to the lower layer to restore the filtration capacity.
